Built by Someone Who's Been There

Lexray exists because I've signed too many contracts I didn't fully understand—and paid the price for it.

The Problem I Kept Running Into

Over the years, I've been on all sides of the contract equation. As an individual contractor, I signed agreements I hoped were fair. As a startup founder at Fusebit and Mobile Chapters, I negotiated with vendors, suppliers, and customers. Each time, the same question haunted me: "What am I missing?"

Hiring a lawyer made sense for six-figure deals, but for routine contracts? The math rarely worked. A $2,000 legal review on a $15,000 project felt excessive. Yet going in blind felt reckless. I'd spend hours Googling clauses, asking founder friends "does this seem normal?", and still lose sleep wondering if I'd signed away something important.

I wasn't alone. Conversations with former colleagues from Microsoft, Auth0, and HP revealed the same pattern: smart, experienced people making contract decisions without real confidence. We all wanted the same thing—a knowledgeable sidekick to co-read contracts and flag the traps before we stepped in them.

That sidekick didn't exist. So I built it.

Why This Tool Exists

Personal Pain Point

This isn't a venture-backed moonshot. It's a practical tool I built because I needed it—and kept hearing from others who needed it too. Real problem, real solution.

Engineering Background

20+ years building developer tools at Microsoft, HP, and Auth0. I've shipped products used by millions. I know how to build tools that actually work.

Startup Experience

Founded multiple companies, raised venture capital, and negotiated hundreds of contracts—from customer agreements to vendor deals to partnership terms. I've lived this.

Bootstrapped & Focused

No investors to satisfy, no growth-at-all-costs pressure. Just one goal: build something genuinely useful for people who sign contracts but aren't lawyers.

What I Believe

Tools Should Be Honest

Lexray doesn't pretend to replace lawyers. It's a screening tool—like a smoke detector, not a fire department. It tells you when something deserves a closer look.

Privacy Isn't Negotiable

Your contracts are confidential. We encrypt uploads, delete files immediately after analysis, and never train AI models on your documents. No exceptions.

Bootstrapping Builds Better Products

Without investor pressure, I can focus on making this genuinely useful rather than chasing vanity metrics. Slow, steady, and sustainable.

Simple Beats Complicated

Upload PDF, get plain-English risks, decide what to do. No legal jargon, no upsells, no artificial complexity. Just signal, no noise.

Questions? Feedback?

I'm a real person building a real tool. If something's broken, confusing, or could be better—I want to hear about it.
